Ring’s End Offers TimberTech Decking
Whether you’re building a new deck or replacing an old one, choosing the right materials will help ensure that your project is a success. Ring’s End is proud to offer TimberTech composite and PVC decking products.
Their Vintage and Legacy Collections feature complex coloring inspired by reclaimed wood, with classic cathedral graining and heavy wire-brush texture. Both have a polymer cap that protects the boards from moisture damage.
Durability
With a lifetime limited product warranty and up to 50-year staining and fade warranties, TimberTech decks offer real value. That’s especially true if you consider how much time and money a traditional wood deck typically needs for upkeep over its lifetime.
Unlike traditional wood, which can be prone to rot and insect damage, TimberTech’s capped composite materials resist these issues, extending the lifespan of your deck. This is particularly important in San Luis Obispo’s challenging climate, where weather conditions can cause significant damage over time.
TimberTech offers several color options and unique texture and grain patterns. The TimberTech Legacy collection, for example, includes a hand-scraped look and dual-embossed grain pattern. Although all colors will fade over time, TimberTech’s advanced PVC formulation and multiple shade levels help ensure your deck retains its beauty for years to come. This durability also helps reduce the risk of mold and mildew, which is often caused by standing water on your deck.
Aesthetics
TimberTech decks capture the beauty of real wood with a range of finishes and color options. From minimalist painted wood looks to sophisticated premium hardwood aesthetics, choose from their collection of colors and textures to match your style.
Timbertech composite and capped polymer decking are designed to resist the elements, so you can enjoy your outdoor space without worrying about fading, staining, or damage. Their inorganic capping protects against invasion by mold, mildew, and fungus to keep your deck safe and healthy for entertaining and living.
The TimberTech PRO and AZEK collections are coated on four sides, which helps prevent moisture penetration for a safe and beautiful deck surface. However, their composite boards have a slippery texture when wet, so they aren’t recommended for use near ponds and pools. The Edge collections are capped on three sides and are safe for use around bodies of water. They also contain a woody component, so they aren’t as durable as the other lines and may be susceptible to scratches.
Maintenance
As with any exterior material, a periodic cleaning will keep your TimberTech deck looking good. A light rinse with a garden hose or a sprayer and a soft-bristled scrub brush is all that’s needed. Keeping a clean surface will help prevent mildew growth and keep your warranty valid.
Unlike traditional wood, TimberTech composite doesn’t need staining or sanding to maintain its beauty and durability. In addition, it resists mold, mildew and insect damage and is backed by industry-leading fade and stain warranties.
However, according to a class action lawsuit against TimberTech, the company’s XLM line of outdoor decking is defective and begins to lose its color far sooner than expected. This can lead to discoloration that some property owners describe as milky white, chalky, or “like diluted milk.” Plaintiffs in the lawsuit are seeking compensation for repair and replacement costs. The lawsuit claims that TimberTech should have known that the polyvinyl chloride (PVC) used to treat the XLM line was susceptible to color deterioration.
Warranty
As a leader in the industry, TimberTech offers one of the best warranties in the business. They offer a lifetime warranty on their PVC products, and their composite products (TimberTech AZEK & TimberTech PRO) have a 30-year fade & stain warranty.
Both brands are durable and essentially maintenance-free. While they do require some cleaning, it’s typically no more strenuous than a simple hosing wtih soap two times per year. They also resist damage from rain, snow, and ice and are resistant to warping and cracking.
Both companies have excellent railing options and a wide range of rail colors, posts, and caps to match your design preferences. The classic composite line has a choice of four top rail options and five post cap styles to match your style. Their capped composite material is resistant to the elements and everyday accidents making it a more durable alternative to traditional pressure-treated wood. Their railings are backed by an industry-leading 25-year Fade and Stain warranty.
